Born from the desire to creatively explore everything that music has to offer without limitation or bias this project is a personal journey into the people, harmonies, melodies and stories that make music, with a few compositions and performances along the way...

Next Performances

Hurst Festival, Monday 16th September 2024

The Mark Travers Project will be performing as part of this fabulous arts festival with guest trombone and an eclectic selection of original compositions, contemporary classics and jazz standards.

THE CIRCUS SUITE

I am delighted to collaborate with numerous musicians, amongst them the fabulous CHRISTIAN JONES, the principal bass trombonist at Opera North. Inspired by his playing and the need to inspire the next generation of bass trombone players I have written a suite of 9 programmatic pieces for bass trombone, tuned percussion, piano and drums that we have recorded and performed in front of over 1,000 primary school children.

Set in the world of the circus, these pieces explore the versatility of this instrument and bring it to life - taking you from the high-wire dexterity of the trapezist, the roaring majesty of the lions to the french comedy of the clowns and welcoming theatricality of the Ringmaster.

Welcome to the circus, one and all!

Learning Resources

Having worked in schools and with children to develop a passion and understanding of music for over 30 years I am keen to always find new and interesting ways to teach this subject. Quick audible results that mean classes can quickly perform and produce music together have the greatest impact on creating a positive school music culture. To achieve this I have created a range of tools to help me and the children achieve the best results as quickly as possible.

Within these resources I have created a:

  • 'Sight Singing Book' to help you transform a voiceless class into a three part choir and beyond.

  • Core Skills Curriculum covering Years 5 to 8 listening, notation and rhythm challenges

  • Primary and Prep School Orchestral Arrangements for a range of instrument and experience levels.

All of these resources will be online soon, to find out more ahead of their release please contact me directly.
